What we collect and why

DataWhyHow long
The email and note from the alpha test application, and the sending IP address So we can send you an invitation and arrange the testing. The IP address only protects the form against flooding. Until the alpha test ends, or until you ask for deletion.
Account: email, password (stored only as an irreversible hash), nickname, optionally a name and profile photo Signing in and your public profile. Until you close your account.
Rides: the track (GPS points with times), statistics, total climbing, weather, your note and photos
Photos are resized to 1600 px on your phone, and the EXIF data — including where they were taken — falls away with it, so only a location-free copy reaches the server. Ridena is a diary, not photo storage, so the originals stay on your device.
Your ride diary. For rides marked public the content is available to anyone who knows the link.
We offer the GPX track for download only where you have given explicit consent — a checkbox on a public ride that we leave unticked. Without it others can view the ride but not download the track. You can withdraw the consent any time.
Until you delete the ride.
Feedback: the text, your account email, the app version and browser details Fixing bugs and seeing who tested. Until the alpha test ends.
Privacy zone: the home point and radius (if you set one in the app) So a public ride link never shows the track from your front door — the start and end of the track inside the zone are hidden in public view. The coordinates stay on the server and are never sent back to the browser. Until you clear the zone or delete your account.
Sign-in session (token) So you don't have to sign in every time. Until you sign out.
Location: your GPS location is processed by the app on your phone. It reaches the server only as part of a ride you save and upload yourself. While you ride, coordinates are sent to map and weather services so they can send you the right piece of map and the forecast (see below).

Tracking and cookies

Ridena uses no analytics, no ad systems and no tracking cookies. We have no Google Analytics and no social-network pixels.

Ridena stores no cookies in your browser. Neither our own nor third-party — verified across the whole site and the app. That's why you won't find a consent bar here: there is nothing we would need consent for. If we ever add analytics or anything not needed to run the app, we'll ask first.

The app does need a few things stored right on your device, otherwise it wouldn't work — you couldn't stay signed in, ride offline or keep a diary. None of it is used for tracking and none of it goes anywhere other than where you send it yourself. Here is the complete list:

WhatWhereWhat forHow long
Sign-inlocalStorage keeps you signed in so the app doesn't ask for a password every time until you sign out
App settings
map, language, units, route type, the profile window, radar on/off
localStorageremembers how you like the app set up until you delete the data
A ride recording in progresslocalStorage if the system closes the app, the ride is restored with its kilometres when you reopen it until the ride is saved or discarded
The loaded route and the plan in progresslocalStorage a route survives the tab being closed; we'll offer to finish a plan in progress until replaced; a plan for a week at most
A ride diary with photosIndexedDB your rides — this is the heart of the app until you delete the rides
Maps downloaded for offline use, cycle routes, elevations and surfaces Cache Storage, IndexedDB so you get there without a signal and the map isn't downloaded over and over until you delete the data
Varia radar and sharing with a buddy
the paired device, the sharing code, the phone's name
localStorageso the radar reconnects by itself when switched on and sharing works until the radar or sharing is switched off
Your own keys and connections
the map key — only if you enter one yourself
localStorageconnections you asked for yourself until disconnected

How to get rid of it: everything is stored only on your device, so it's enough to clear the site data in your browser ridena.cz (in both Chrome and Safari it's called “clear site data” or “remove cookies and website data”). The app then starts from scratch. Rides you uploaded to the server won't disappear that way — delete those in the diary, or ask us to delete your account at ahoj@ridena.cz.

Who gets the data

We sell them to nobody. Running the service does need third parties, though — and they receive only what is necessary:

Your rights

Just write to ahoj@ridena.cz. We can delete the whole account with all its rides and photos — just say the word.

Security

The site runs only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as an irreversible hash, so not even we can see them. Database credentials live outside the public part of the site.

Changes

Ridena is evolving, so this document will change. The date of the last update is at the top. We'll let registered users know about any substantial change by email.
